While you can’t have the buttery or cheesy goodness that so many of us love about popcorn, you can still have popcorn.  Many of the boxes or bags in the store are loaded with off-limits ingredients.  Good thing it is super easy to make at home.


Measure 1/4 cup popcorn kernels into a brown paper bag.  Roll the top of the bag down 2 or 3 times.  Microwave for 90 seconds, or until the popping slows.  Pour into a bowl.

To get the spices to stick, give the popcorn a quick spray with olive oil, toss, then add the spices and toss again.  Here are some easy spice options:

  • salt
  • Italian seasoning and salt
  • turmeric and salt
  • sesame seeds, caraway seeds, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt
  • cumin, paprika, garlic powder, chili powder, and salt
  • paprika, chopped fresh parsley, and salt
